Assistant Product Developer / Development Chef

Full time / £33,000.00 per year
Job Description: Role Overview We are looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Product Developer / Development Chef to join our fast-paced manufacturing business, specialising in fruit and vegetable-based ingredients and solutions. This role will support the development of innovative products across a wide range of applications including food-to-go, ready meals, and QSR You will play a key role in turning creative concepts into scalable, factory-ready products. Key Responsibilities • Support the development of new and existing products from concept through to launch • Assist in creating recipes and products in line with customer briefs and market trends • Work closely with NPD, Technical, and Operations teams to ensure smooth scale-up from kitchen to factory • Prepare samples for customer presentations, internal tastings, and factory trials • Ensure all products meet quality, cost, and operational requirements • Maintain accurate records of recipes, trials, and product specifications • Support factory trials and first productions, ensuring consistency and quality • Keep up to date with food trends, flavours, and ingredients, particularly within plant-based and vegetable-led innovation • Involvement in Customer Presentations Key Skills & Experience • Background as a chef or in food product development (manufacturing experience desirable) • Strong understanding of ingredients, flavours, and cooking techniques • Interest in fruit and vegetable-based innovation and plant-led products, Food Trends, Blogs etc • Ability to translate kitchen concepts into commercial, scalable products • Good organisational skills and attention to detail • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment • Strong communication and teamwork skills Desirable • Experience working with food manufacturers or suppliers • Knowledge of food-to-go, ready meals, or QSR sectors • Good understanding of food safety, shelf life, and technical requirements • Passion for natural clean label / non-UPF development What We Offer • Opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative food projects • Exposure to major food categories and customers • Collaborative and supportive development environment • Career progression within a growing business • Working hours Mon – Fri 8.30am to 5pm Benefits: • Company pension
