Beacon Foods
Fresh Ingredient Suppliers to the UK Food Manufacturing Industry.
ABOUT US
Beacon Foods is family owned and was created in 1993. We are the UK’s Number One fastest growing independent supplier of specialist cooked ingredients to major UK food manufacturers, food service industries, and small independent companies.

Our portfolio of products is diverse and endless. Our ingredients become an integral part of sandwiches, prepared meals and pizzas, along with sauces, soups, dips and dressings, pastry products, desserts, drinks and even cosmetics.

By cutting and cooking in a variety of ways we are able to offer an extensive range of roast, chargrilled, smoked and caramelised fruit and vegetables as well as chutney, relishes, purees, compotes, zests and garnishes.

We source very carefully to avoid air miles whenever possible and use British growers whenever we can. Our customers often request seasonality and provenance in our fruit and vegetables and availability of these may include potatoes from Lincolnshire, Kentish bramley apples, Hereford asparagus or Cornish carrots.

Our garlic is specially grown for us in the Minaya region of Spain and harvested in May and June. The method of dedicated cultivation allows us to trace every consignment back to the field where it was grown. We are now the UK’s leading independent supplier of processed and cooked garlic.

Our Fabulous Factory

Our amazing 30,000 sq ft factory based in the Brecon Beacons National Park operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Our state of the art gas-fired ‘through’ ovens have computer controlled memories which extend to 1,000 programmes with up to 9 sections per programme ensuring that the pre ordained cooking times and temperatures are precisely repeated with each batch and with future orders. We are able to dry roast, slow roast, steam cook, damp roast or set combinations from small batches up to a full oven.

Our fantastic Chargriller can bar mark or flame products with a variety of travelling speeds and flame settings to create the exact customer specification.

Each one guarantees a rich caramel like taste and a brightly coloured finish. We can even add your choice of oil for extra flavour and visual marking. And the smell as the Veg go through ? Well that’s better than the best barbeque you’ve ever been to. Delicious.

Our versatile Brat Pan can slow cook, steam, blanch, boil, simmer and reduce and is dedicated to producing a huge choice of chutneys, relishes, compotes, vegetables and caramelised zests.

Quality and Technical Stuff

Our factory has separated high and low risk areas. We are very proud of our advanced ‘Track It’ system which ensures full traceability and recipe management from the grower through to the customer. From the moment the order is placed on the system it tells the factory what to do, from what ingredients to use to what bin to put it in. Everything is bar coded from the bananas to the Blast Chiller. We can see where any product is at any time of the day. Very clever stuff.

  • We hold 3 daily Taste Panels.
  • We constantly Micro test.
  • We use Positive Release equipment in High Risk with a Bio trace monitoring system.
  • All raw materials are tested for pesticide residues.
  • And we hold library samples of every single product we produce for its full shelf life.
  • (We hope we’ve thought of everything to make sure every customer gets the best quality product time after time).
Investors In People

Beacon Foods achieved Investors In People status in 1998 and has been re-accredited four times since then. As an Investor in People we have to continually demonstrate to a national standard our commitment to the development of our staff in line with our Business Objectives.

This includes showing that we communicate with all our employees in how the business is performing and we do this through a series of Directors’ presentations, meetings and newsletters.

Through IiP we took the decision that whenever possible we would link our employee training and development to training programmes accredited by awarding bodies such as CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) and ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management).

This strategy allows our employees to gain national qualifications that have value in other industries and gives them transferable skills. Our NVQ in Food and Drink Manufacturing fits into this as does our recent management development programme.
